Leaman, started this company with a single Pierce Arrow truck delivering lime and milk around Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Though much has changed within our industry since our company’s founding in 1913, through QDI's history we are proud to say we continue operating under the same values of honesty, integrity and a respect for the safety of everyone connected with our operations.
In 1913 there was a need in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for the timely delivery of both lime and milk. A small trucking company was formed to help meet this need. By 1930, the company was successful enough to purchase Mileage Motor Corporation, and began hauling fuel oil in addition to the lime and milk, the basis of the business.
In 1938, Wheatland, Illinois, Quality Carriers was formed with a focus on hauling milk in the Chicago area.
In 1998 Chemical Leaman and Montgomery Tank Lines combined, bringing together the industry's largest asset base and most complete service offering. This started an integration effort that culminated in 1999 when the two companies announced the formation of Quality Distribution, Inc., as the parent company and re-established the name of Quality Carriers for its first subsidiary.
Today, Quality Carriers has positioned itself as the leader in bulk chemical transportation by developing strong client relationships and focusing on driver growth and retention.
Acquired by the CSX Corporation on July 1, 2021, Quality Carriers is a subsidiary of one of the nation's leading transportation suppliers. Today we operate North America’s largest bulk tank trucking fleet with more than 2,500 trucks and 6,400 trailers.
Quality Carriers offers its valued customers a full array of logistical services, including Intermodal and Bulk transport, Transload, Logistics and more. Our commitment to customer satisfaction is shown in our ability to help our customers manage their supply chain and inventory levels in the most efficient manner whether services are planned out weeks in advance or an emergency arises requiring immediate assistance. Our extensive North American network features more than 100 terminals in strategic locations across North America.
